A select group gathered at Vicars last night for another evening of Nooma with Rob Bell. This month he tackled the question of why good people suffer using the experiences of Job.

Job was a good person to whom awful things happened – things which make no sense and for which there are no easy answers. In spite of this he refused to blame God for his problems and as a result he has a new revelation of the divine. Indeed in the end Job’s world is restored.

Rob Bell suggested that despite our abilities we cannot always find answers to everything that happens in life. To trust God in such circumstances allows to exercise our faith and in the words of the poem ‘Footsteps’ to be carried by him.

Thanks to Nick and Emma who helped with the meal.
